Description

This image wasn't very satisfying, so I decided to do a little postwork. I changed the colours a bit, I softened the picture, cropped the picture and framed it. And now, it reminds me of one of the famous Dutch painting of the 17th Century.. I said.. it reminds.. meaning.. of course I know this picture is not the same and certainly not that beautiful as the 17th Century paintings were. Anyway.. tell me what you think.. does it look like a painting or not ?

Hmmm, paintings do look a bit different IMHO and it's not easy to mimic the painting structures although there are some nice software packages providing that option. But the sky is as Dutch as the paintings always make us believe! :)

Not really... It looks like a shot which has been blured. I've applied twice the filter named "bande dessin" in French (probably "cartoon" in English) and saved it (for your eyes only) in my webshots collection. In the album named "recently added". This has been done whith photoFiltre, of course! I'll suppress it as soon as you've seen it... Cheers!

You must remember, an old oil painting will have age to it. They are in color, yes, but the upper layers were varnished to lock in the color from the oils used. These layers of varnish later would discolor and tint the paintings slightly yellowish in hue. Also, dirt (smoke, sun, dust, etc.) would contribute to its' discoloration. Also, the varnish and oils would crack, from the contractions of the paint and varnish due to exposure to heat and cold, giving the whole surface a "crazed" appearance of tiny cracks, and even chipping and loss of small sections of paint. Your image does appear blurred. Go back to your original and study some of the images taken of the old masters, to include close up details and study the aging (discoloration and cracking, etc) of these paintings.

Might have added canvas to the image to give the effect of a painting, actually the image is quit pleasant to view, well done:):):)
