Description

Why has politics and finger pointing come into play in the wake of Hurricane Katrina? People still need to be rescued and people are already quick to play the blame game. By doing this you and/or the politicians are doing a disservice to the victims as well as to the United States. We are suppose to be pulling together as a nation and give a helping hand in any way possible. Granted there has been a rousing amount of support both as a nation and from the world but blaming the President is not helping anyone. I don't know why it took President Bush 24 hours to react after the levee broke in New Orleans? But why was New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco completely unprepared for protecting there citizens...See my point, it goes up the food chain. There should absolutely be no Party lines, race, religion, etc. be in play here we are all in this together. No boundaries! (I can give you a long list of those people who are too busy pointing fingers and not thinking of their fellow Americans. So don't get me started.) The blame game should be left too much after the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama get back on there feet again. Then and only then can we see the errors that have been made locally and federally. From there we can fix those mistakes move forward and be prepared. But first we must think of our fellow American's in their time of need. http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html. http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/USNSAHome.htm You can also make donations in person at your local Wal-Mart or Sam's Club Military families needing assistance locating loved ones and finding support for their families should contact www.militaryonesource.com or call 1-800-342-9647. Beautiful and Touching. Truth be told - it's a sad situation all around. Even if you can't help with money, there is a lot to be said for donating your time. Great Work baby.

Everyone in the country knew that Katrina was heading for those two states. Whether or not the levee was going to break, buses should have been in there to get all the poor people out. It hit Miami and left it devastated and they were getting help the day after. It took less than 24 hours for the U.S. to go to Asia after the Tsunami. Why is that? Maybe its politics and since I'm not an American, I'm not going to point fingers at anyone. Someone needs to answer why? Gorgeous image btw!!

I agree but maybe I didn't make it clear...Now is not the time to find blame, fault or criticize. It is time to rescue and help those people in need from all THREE states. We can figure out what went wrong later, not now.

I think you are right but where is the help? I have given what I could but still when will it get to the people that need it? Or will it ever get there. I have seen the help promised that never came. Most of the people here in Joshua Tree are still recovering from the earthquake that happened about 7 years ago. We are still waiting for the help that was promised and never got. We rebuilt what we have now by our selves.

After 9/11 there were many organizations that were taking donations but the people never saw a dime of that. United Way was and still is one of the oganizations. When you send your check to the red cross or do it via the internet make sure you specify where you want the money to go to...It will get the people. As far as the earthquake in Joshua Tree.. Well you and I live in a whacked out state that is strugging to survive.

This is a gorgeous piece. The runny makeup certainly adds to the feel, but I believe that even without it you would have portrayed her emotion wonderfully. Her facial expression and body language speak volumes. Beautiful!

Man you could not have said it better, i know in my state of Florida, we are pulling....The Tampa area alone has truck loads of supplies going out and many more we need drivers for........Refugees are being taken in , and many are offering their homes to share with dis located families........The time to figure out what went wrong will be later, if for no other reason , so that this does not happen again......God Bless you man for this........

Rob..what can I say. You have captured the raw emotion that that all of us living in Louisiana feel. As you know Linda and I live on the other side of the state from where this disaster and disgrace happen and we are helping the evacuees in our area (me working in the ER and Linda working at one of the shelters). I am OUTRAGED that not only our state officials but our government let us down. If it wasnt for the great and generous heart of our country and now the rest of the world, more would have died. For this image and your awesome heart,,,,WE the people of the great state of Louisiana,,,THANK YOU. WE will endure!! VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have been watching the news and that is what the victims are saying..How come nobody is helping..some even think they blew the levee in the poorer section to try and save downtown new orleans..people are confused and are wondering why..and of course there is blame and someone has to be responsible..i for one have sent money and donated time locally but i will still point fingers when i see nothing being done.

No time for blame Bill! There will be time to look into everything that happened but the residents need our help. As far as the blowing the levee, well I think where ever you got that information is wrong and full of non-sense. Four years ago there was a report that this could happen in the wake of Category 5 hurriccane. Local, State and Federal government officials have known this for years. Years! But now it is too late and now we have to help our fellow Americans.

A strong message that certainly needs to be said. We are all saddened, and sickened and outraged by this tragedy, but helping those in need is what matters most right now. There are so many who need help, even the poor deserted pets who have been left to die. God - this is just so heartbreaking. We are donating to several organizations, with the prayer that it actually gets to those who need it most. Your image powerfully illustrates the emotion we are all feeling. CC
