Description

this was an experiment of epic proportions (in terms of render time) i was playing around with ecosystems and ended up with this. initially i rendered at 1024 x 768 with Ultra settings, just to see how it looked. it took just over 3 hours. then, for the heck of it i thought i'd render at 1280 x 1024 with Global Illumination enabled. it finished just now, after 40 hours of rendering. the only difference i can see is that the GI version is darker. the water looks much better with GI as well, but i don't know if 40 hours for better-looking water are, in fact, better than 3 hours of rendering and another 37 of further experimentation :p *edit* unfortunately i can't compress the full-size render enough to be less than 512kb without completely messing the image up, so i've had to scale it down :(
