Description
Another picture from Lofoten, a group of islands pretty far north in Norway.
Todays picture should give a good impression of what the midnight sun is like, as this shot was made a few minutes prior to midnight. The overall brightness of the image is pretty close to how you would experience it in person, and this is very near to the darkest time of night! The sun is pretty low, so if you are at the south side of a high mountain, you will of course be in shadow - but still it won't get dark enough to be anything like twilight. It's a fantastic experience, but it really messes with your sleeping;)
The mountain dominating this image is called Himmeltind (Heavens Peak), and it is the highest mountain on this particular island. I must admit I'm quite pleased with this image:)

This photo really appeals to me - for some reason it makes the village seem so peaceful, a relaxed and easy place to live. And yet, the environment is obviously rather harsh in the winter. GREAT photography!
