WARNING!!!Tons of self-indulgent babble ahead!!!!You have been warned!!!LOL!
Hi everyone!Okay.I bet you're wondering why I gave my pic such a weird name.Okay maybe not, lol. But I'm going to tell you anyway! Some of you may have noticed I haven't been around very much lately. And there is a very good reason for it.I got an attack of 'performance anxiety'.You know what that is.It's when you scare the heck out of yourself for no good reason and then you get stuck because you're afraid to fail. Well,I've been taking tons and tons of pics and working them to death in photoshop, and just when it looks like I have something decent to upload...I chicken out!I have found something wrong with every single one. Why?Because I'm a perfectionist. And (LOL!) it STINKS to be a perfectionist when you don't nearly have the skills to achieve what you want!I can't afford to be a perfectionist!Sigh. Well today I decided to bite the bullet and stick one out there because if I don't I'm never going to do it! Okay so now about my pic...This little guy was just waiting for me this morning. He hung out next to my front door almost as if he wanted to have his pic taken! And even though he didn't move for what seemed like hours, don't you know I still had trouble getting a decent clear shot?I think my eyes are going, lol. But he was sooooo cute! All I had to do was cluck my tongue and he looked right at me!And he was VERY patient with my amateurish efforts.I must have at least twenty-something shots of his gross looking chest-thingy that are super sharp but with his head all a blur!I practically gave him a mammogram!LOL!...Sigh.I can only imagine how much better this would have been if I knew what I was doing!!!!! Oh my.If this isn't my longest bit of babbling yet!LOL.Ooops.Well,if you made it this far, thank you for reading all this nonsense.I want you to know that in spite of my 'performance anxiety' I still REALLY DO want to know what you truly think about my pic...Honestly.I swear.Really.I do.Lol. Have a great week all.Oooh now I can get back to looking at all your wonderful stuff without feeling guilty.YAY! See ya!MmmmmmmmWAH!((g)) Marlene

Obsession in my opinion is a hallmark of the true artist, and this image does demonstrate how good you are, very well done.

The crisis of yesterday is the joke of tomorrow..H.G.Wells.. " being an artist means not numbering and counting, but ripening like a tree, which doesnt force its sap, stands confidently in the storms of spring, not afraid that afterwards summer may not come: Rainer marina rilke. some times cracking underpressure to perform opens up a wonderland of self.. creativity is a normal and natural part of us..but the ego wants us to .write paint act dance or do photography perfectly.. happens to the best of us.. hugsssss :)..:)) hope this help , cute little guy believe he winked

I'm not kidding.. this is so awesome. I'm glad you took the plunge .. I dont know why you got so wrapped up in this anxiety, because you are an artist through and through. From what shall I say? When I saw this work,I thought this is one of your polished style. This might be the next work of "From the Bottom Up (A thank you dedi)" by style. It's original & so really cool. I want to see your work of this style more! /|:o)

Marlene, I know exactly what you mean, I'm going through that same scenario now too :( but to get the feedback that we want and need we must upload to learn. Something about the lighting on this I think could be better, if it's postworked though, afraid I can't held knowing next to nothing about postwork sigh. I do love your capture of this guy, they do have rather cute faces close up don't they ... hugz Noeline

Great picture Marlene! I have never gotten a decent shot of one of those guys. Some part was always out of focus! When you shoot macro you need to be parallel to the subject, and that's really hard with a mantis since their parts go off in all directions. I like your postwork also.

artist block, oversaturating one's mind, stress... relax, energize your mind & just let it flow with a clear head away from outside interference... as far as pc pw, that takes time & practice but with your FA's background you already know the basics.. compo is right on & a winning mantis smile :]

The grey frame borders inside create a TV line effect to my eyes. The gradient circle may be aiding in this too. Anyways you captured "The Look" on this mantis and have the perfect crop. Never worry about being blocked by postwork.what mey look not perfect on your monitor could in fact be excellent on someone elses. We have a forum here for posting work in progress. This is the main reason it is here. Don't ever feel you can't out in images for feedback 'till you get what you wanted to achieve. You realize how many people would love to assist? PS...o0psss...remember to end your tags if all the red was inteded for just the warning. LOLLL I guess you figured that out now though.

Marlene!! This is AWESOME!!!! WOWWW!!!! Honest ...I can't believe you are feeling that way...you??? Your work is outstanding! I think it's great that we all want to improve but please don't put yourself through so much agony my friend. You have much to be proud of like this incredible shot that I have no idea how you got! It looks like this guy is floating in a cloud! His eyes are So comical and that breast plate is quite amazing...never seen anything like it. I LOVE the soft color and the way he goes into the frame! To me, you are a Master with a very artistic eye and one I look up to and aspire to get even half as good as!!! :-)

No need to worry - this is an amazing picture! Love the light and the horizontal crop - and the fact that he's looking right at you. He was probably in the middle of catching a yummy bug when this strange creature came up to him and started clucking its tongue:))

We call it praying sticks for one name. hey do not be so hard on yourself. I like your photos. We all are hard on ourselfs but you have to read storys to see it ok. Jean Audrey the cowboy. He was handed a song to sing on a record one time he sing it one time and say that was it for this song for it not going no wheres. No body was going to buy it. Well you hear it at Chirtmas time all the time and movies was made from it. The song is "Rodolth, the red nose raindeer" Bing Croby told Jean he turn down that song for he too thought it was going to be nothing. lol both was wrong. Your work is super.

Your post work is excellent - I have to figure a mammogram might be worth it for such skills! And there certainly isn't a problem with your photography! I love how you used the LIGHT to meet the rule of thirds - stunning work. Yep, good stuff. One thing I like is that you DON'T post something just to be posting. When I get an ebot saying you've posted, I know it's going to be well worth the look.
