Description

The Headquarters of the Flagler railroad is located in St. Augustine. You can see the 3 building of this structure in my St. Augustine panorama photos, on the far left. This is a close-up of the main offices. Interestingly, the winery across the road was once part of this complex. If you go inside, you can see the same decorative 3 blue diamond pattern that adorns these walls. Henry Flagler visited St. Augustine and fell in love with the city. However, he saw a need for better hotels and transportation for tourists in FL. Around 1885, he started work on a line that would eventually run from Jacksonville all the way down to Key West. Because of him, St. Augustine (and Florida) flourished and began the journey to become what it is today.
