Description

My first go with Lightwave. This program has given me a real thirst to learn this wonderful art form. Will be posting more as this progresses, but wanted to get some feedback on this so far. TIA for your time.

Needs more anti-aliasing, and something done about the bottom part of the wooden 'cage'..looks too CG.

looks like you're off to a good start...a ground plain and some shadows would be a nice addition...pretty believable glass...and turn up your subpatch to get rid of the faceting around the base...other than that...looks good...keep at it...

Thanks Warlock, appreciate your help. Yeah, the glass and sand are what I am proud of. Ill polish up the rest, add something to sit it on,and repost.

Very, very good for a first try! You should see the muddy looking blobs I first started making. :o) You've got a great grasp for modeling and textures, but you might want to increase the number of polygons and details in your model for close shots like this one. Only thing you need to play with here is your lighting. Great stuff! :o)

That is awesome. The glass has the reflection of a room? The sand and glass and woodgrain textures are nice!

First try? This looks super. I think this render is excellent in its own right. Cool model, fantastic glass, reflections and sand. Tree also very good. Sure would be nice to see this in a scene, with some background. Excellent work

Thanks Tony, Arze. This was originally a test model and render, but after your kind comments, I've decided to polish it up, add a scene, and see where it takes me. I chose the glass and sand as a challenge to learn LW. Thanks again guys.

Thanks for the comments. Although I promised to get backto this model, it has not happened...yet. Will be trying to complete a few other projects asap, so I can clear some time for this. Thanks laocoon: the sand took some tinketing with procedurals and bump mapping, but I think it turned out all right. Once this is done I want to turn my attention to another challenge: ice.

Nice work. The sand looks really good and so does the model. You could add this to a larger scean. And maybe work some more on the wood texture.
