Description

This tiny mining community nestled high up in the Colorado mountains has a magnificent view no one can see. Years ago the government ordered everyone to immediately evacuate due to high levels of radiation. Houses remain intact, and fully furnished, including clothing and dishes, turning this picturesque community into a glorious ghost town, We shot these pictures on a recent outing along the scenic byway toward Vail. The Autumn landscape was the most vibrant we had ever seen, taking our breath away at every turn.. If you look closely at the last picture, you can see the river at the bottom of the ravine. Original photos are very high res and had to be significantly compressed for this collage. This is the second in our Colorado Autumn photo series. Hope you enjoy.:o) Cavalaris & HEART

Forevernyt - we don't know what the radiation came from -people on the mountain related the story without saying- don't think it's dangerous anymore - anyone viewing these pics who knows the full story please fill in the details. :o) CC

These places are so unbelievable beautiful that is hard to think are been contamined because of high radations, isn't it? In my mind have always thought a contaminate place would have to have a bad grass showing and so going on... So wonderful places, really

What a spectactular set of photographs, and to think that this was abandoned, what a set of cercimstances, very Bueatiful my friend, and so very interesting reading about what happened here.This reminds me in some ways of my trip to arizona, and a small mining town we went to, called Jarome....I find this stuff so interesting and amazing...............John

What an outstanding collage of images for this immensely beautiful town! I wonder if the ghosts wander around it up like light bulbs with the radiation! LOL! The beautiful autumn trees highlite the landscape wonderfully and this is fit to be a portrait!! Outstanding images!!
