Description

This image was my entry into the Bryce Challenge (Over at Innertraveler). I have never entered a challenge, here or elsewhere. It got me to think out of the box. My first entry (Which I won't post here) was boring. As we could only enter 2 images, I decided to take a "Surreal" approach with my second entry. I started with a cube of water, and then added most of the elements from the boring image. I was very happy with the results, dare I say amused? I am still chasing my precocious model, so the trib is behind schedule. Hope everyone is doing well this "Hump-day" ; )

This is a great idea, well executed. Quite comical too! The composition benefits from the isolating white background. Nice one!

Obviously, this one is very popular. Amusing, surreal and very well thought out. Breaking down the box feels quite good, ya know eh? (sorry, hangin' with the Canadians at ST)

The concept is more than just interesting. It makes the mind think. So let us get to the elements and the composition. The ice cup and sharp I would not touch. The planes shadow, along with the shadow of the shell trouble me. There is no surface here and so there should be no shadow. The shell is to large as you appear to have scale and proportions throughout the image. Then there is a bit of an water-block sticking out from behind the cube, an error perhaps? I am not bothered by the lack of a left wing on the Japanese Zero, knowing that such things break away during a crash landing. Here is a suggestion as to the surface upon which the water cub rests, so that the shadows have reasons to be shadows. Look at an ice cube melting and re-create the same effect and you have a surface. By the way, I do love the sharks shadow. I hope this helps you Eric.

Very cool image. The fish swimming out of the cube are what really makes this work for me.

This is out of the box, all right! Just came across this from your Top 30 (400 images) post. I've actually seen a bronze sculpture on a similar theme, a woman wading through a free-standing "block" of water, and thought it would make a good subject for 3D graphics. Well, it would, and here's the proof!
