Description

Hi guys, sorry I had to check out for a little while, you know how it is. I took this shot earlier this week. This area is called Long Valley. You are actually looking at one of the country's largest calderas. We are not active, all though were are constantly monitered. The lake is Crowley Lake. The mountains in the back ground are known as the White Mountains. Thanks to all for your awesome comments on my last post, 'Fleabitten Appaloosa', I am so glad that you liked him!

For those of you who think that a calderas is a Mexican dish, Zacko! It is a bubble of magma under the earths crust, lookin for some release, how scary is that, bet you don't want to know now! actually it is very interesting! By the way just FYI, I live on the side of a volacano!

Very cool shot you got there.Wonderfully vast.I love the different plants in the foreground. Thanks for explaining what a caldera is.I never heard of such a thing. And I can't even imagine living on the side of a volcano.Isn't that kind of dangerous?Guess the insurance is pretty expensive!-M :)
