Description

Enclosed by clouds the Bietschtal (Bietsch-valley) and the Bietschgletscher can be seen through this window of water (clouds are essentially water in the air :), but without the Bietschhorn (3934 m, 12907 ft) that is hidden in the clouds. The desaturated colors are caused by removing the bluishness (humid air on long distance). When I would have had extra time I had visited this valley, so that I could call my self a Bietsch-boy! ;) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 300 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Very beautiful peeking thru the clouds and seeing the landscape. Interesting how the clouds and moisture will change the whole picture colors. I noticed that a lot in my travels in the mountains. Excellent information and a most beautiful capture. Aloha

What a powerful scene you show us!!! I look at this and have the impression of the strength and harshness sometimes of the forces of nature! this one reminds me so much of a painting! i like this a lot! so moody! Looking at this, i would say that if nature had feelings, it was very angry right now! composition is excellent!! the clouds are gorgeous, but the clouds in the bottom are showing up as overexposed on my monitor. interesting how you desaturated the colors. i like the effect you Bietsch-boy, you!!! :) Well, don't you qualify as one if you took a picture of the place???? :)

The blueish tones that do remain still make it look cold and wintery. I get the impression of a raw wind with a hint of rain in the air. What a majestic scene and wonderful capture!
