Description

When Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg went out of the business in the late 1930s two companies battled to save the incredible Cord,( See my other 1937 CORD Boat Tail SPEEDSTER Image ) and one of those was Graham-Paige. They took the front-wheel drive 810/812 and turned it into a rear-wheel drive before fitting their own restyled body called the Hollywood. They needed a new front axle to replace the driveshaft-equipped front-wheel drive set-up, so chose a simple but rather ancient (by then) beam axle on leaf springs, matched at the rear with leaf springs either end of a live axle. The ride offered was best cruising at speed, where the car was in a class of its own. The engine wasn't particularly large but with a supercharger, it did offer plenty of torque and the three-speed gearbox smoothed out its operation well. While the car seemed to offer an afterlife for the Cord, it was too costly to produce, and by late 1941 it was finished. GRAHAM HOLLYWOOD SPECIFICATIONS TOP SPEED = 89 mph (142.4 km/h) (with out super charger ) 0-60 mph (0-96 KM/H) 14.6 sec ENGINE TYPE In-line six cylinder TRANSMISSION 3-speed manual MAXIMUM POWER 124 bhp (92 kW) @ 4,000 rpm MAXIMUM TORQUE 182 lb ft (247 Nm) @ 2,400 rpm WEIGHT 3,240 lb (1,472 kg) ECONOMY 17 mpg (6.01 km/l) Note: Some of you saw this image when I first posted it as a cherry red colored car but I liked this color better for it . In the original image the car was a kind of " off " butter color. I desaturated it and made it different colors till I found the color I liked the best. This is what comes from looking at new cars on the internet.
