Description

"He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects progress is the cemetery." --Harold Wilson

For those of you who prefer color, here are three early morning views at the location of yesterday's photo. The St. Augustine National Cemetery is adjacent to the Coast Guard Station and a National Guard Station, facing the bay in historic St. Augustine. The Coast Guard's long and distinguished history as a humanitarian service is documented through artifacts, art and memorials.

A generation which ignores history has no past and no future wrote Robert Heinlein. It's good to know history and cemeteries are part of them, where we honor the generations of which we are offspring. Wonderful work, Kort!

Harold Wilson - you are actually quoting Harold Wilson???? - I hope its not the same Harold Wilson who loved pontificating about change while he did everything he could to prevent it happening. - Charles

Very good work. Well. Not sure about the 11 November suggestion... See, I'm a veteran and I'm still chugging! I think Ray was thinking of Memorial Day... that or the Poppy Day angle.

In some way this image honours the death of soldiers and at the same time is a cry for peace and no more fighting. Thank you.
