Description

My hero, my adventurer, has no name. He has no distinguishable characteristics and he has no character and yet he has been on every adventure imaginable. He has been and will be every thinkable combination. He refuses to be defined. He has infinite feats of ability and magic and power. Anything I can think of he can do because like the unopened present at Christmas-time, he could be anything. He has no beginning, and has no end, he only has journeys laid out before him. His unwritten story will never end for it never began. And if he were to be written, how would he be written? He would have the most beautiful language for all to see, more eloquent than any words ever written before. I will never write him for if I do he will no longer be infinite. His abilities would be confined to what I have written and his life would end when I stop writing. His adventures would only be what is there in words. He shall remain the unwritten story so that the rest of his friends may find literary life. -------------------- If you have read nothing else which I have written read this and let your mind wander to your own unwritten stories. Perhaps they remain unwritten for a reason. Don't tell me or anyone about them for that will ruin their fantastic mystery.

Excellent, I love this, and yes I do think many of us have a character somewhere inside that is unwritten, a special character of infinite existenceThanks Chip for reminding us not to attempt to mold that character into some shape or form, yet to allow the character to remain as it is. Free.

Come on, guys. Perfect is boring. No problem, no struggle/conflict = no story. Think of Superman before kryptonite was introduced (yeah, I'm old enough to remember): not Smallville, but Dullsville (ho-hum, so he stopped another tidal wave). Give your hero/heroine flaws, make him/her be alive and react in the world. Conflict, conflict, conflict; be it inner, or a black-hearted nemesis, or that avalanche threatening his life. And yes, re-read "To Build a Fire" by Jack London(?). Dick

Perfect may be boring but the adventures and journey there as in the unwritten story is an intriguing concept that is definitely not. All those characters floating around in my head do not want to be written about - yet. But as each is ready to emerge and become a reality they become dominent in my mind to an extent where I just have to sit in front of my PC and type. Even there I do not control the character, he/she twists and turns to become the perfect character of themselves. Sorry, rambling on again.....lol Very nice work EXP!
