Description

If Arthur C Clarke ever discribed the inside of the Monolith from his books and the movies "2001 A Space Odyssey" and "2010 The Year We make Contact", then I imagine it to be similar to this... where as 3rd dimensional beings, we only see the shadow and reflections of our 4th dimensional selves... it's a bit like seeing the shadow on the ground of a 3D object, it's flat, 2 dimensional... just step up one dimension... hurts the head eh! I think, correct me if I'm wrong, Stephen Hawking (English physicist) is up to about 20 different dimensions he's calculated using Quantum Theory and mathematics beyound normal comprehension... but I can't render those... I've only got a flat panel monitor... All pretty heavy stuff eh, well I had to think of something... Used the brilliant free prop from "AGentleMuse"... reflective floor (here at Rendo, thanks Jen... awesome), used it twice and spun one of them 90 degrees for a wall... took a high camera angle... added a bit of atmosphere and rendered.... My God... it's full of stars! Thanks for looking. Deane

This is awesome! I love the whole concept and it's really cool what you wrote to go with your image. Love the reflections! 20 different demensions, my small mind can not comprehend so many. LOLOL But anything is possible! Awesome work! V Hugs Maria

Very nice image. Suitable for hanging. You're really sticking your neck out, introducing such heady subjects at Renderosity. Carl Sagan had a really good analogy for encountering 4th Dimensional beings. He used a two dimensional world experiencing the passing of an apple through its plane of existance. The apple would first appear as four unrelated shapes, growing together and changing in size and shape as it passed through. What phenomenae might we only be percieving a slice of? See, now you got me thinking about it! But I'm prone ot it anyway. Nice work!

Extrem unusual image!!!! This reflection is awesome and that you gave him an alien head is a wonderful add on!!! That with the dimensions, I believe that there are other but how much, how knows?? I think really my small mind at 6.30 in the morning is not able to find that out!!!LOL Excellent work!!!

I knew that line instantly and jumped up! I love the image it's so much like the movie. Beautiful! It's so exciting to see that some one else may even sometimes possibly contemplate the things that string theory makes a legitimate case for.

Excellent render, although I think meeting higher dimensions would be ever more complicated than that, introducing weird shapes popping up in our space from nowhere ... Did you read Flatland? It was written about 100 years before Sagan :) It is easy to find online on the net.

First of all, do I have a website for you to check out. Second of all, I haven't even finished my first cup of coffee yet this morning and I'm reading about quantum physics. Nothing starts the morning off right, like inter-dimensional philosophy. The render is awesome and I'm upset that I never got that outfit! The yellow of it really stands out against the darker background. Awesome image.

Some interesting analogies in the comments above, i tend to think of this stuff a lot, and i like anything involved with dimensions!!! And as a matter of fact, you took rendering to a new dimension!! :) The picture is great, i am afraid of using even one reflective surface- you got three there AND an atmosphere! Very bold!

You're obviously well read. I'm happy to see some challenging and thought provoking concepts inspiring some of the work here. I love the suggestion of a back story.
