Description


Little one learned his lessons well Then the world outside was game Just a small toy fishing boat And minos catching rain A soiled sun for water tricks Building monuments of sand Till he grew to build with bricks When swimming there was ban Down on Mason Boulevard She sold lemonade Tells the folks it's the sweetest thing Her mother ever made She's learning how to make change With pennies from a box Her business was destroyed by rain She's now mending her children's socks Lounging on a dusty porch In his Sunday best The work week gone for nothing Why shouldn't he rest While she gathers some loose change From the bedroom vanity top She heads out in the rain To the corner's wet bus stop Strolling to the market place To buy a loaf of bread She passed by the Thrift store And stopped in there instead There was one thing she desired That caught her eye so many times Not jewelry or any attire This thing only cost a dime The city around them dying Though they couldn't see it that day She brought home her treasure And he asked "how much you pay?" She smiled and held it high The angel with copper wings "It was the best money could buy" "Over a hundred pennies made this thing
