Description

The Ruby Throated Hummingbird, Archilochus Colubris. They're the most common type, but I love 'em anyway. The female of the species is the centerpiece of the image, and the inset is the male with his irridescent throat feathers. Thanks for looking and commenting!

Oh, what I would give to be able to take shots like this! Stunning work! Humming birds are my favorites too - who could ever tire of watching them? Such amazing and beautiful creatures. Once I saw a pair play for half an hour just above the sprinklers in my lawn, cooling off in the hot summer weather. I could tell they were having the time of their lives. One of those inspirational moments a person remembers with a smile. Thanks for bring us this wonderful presentation. V

The stop action is one of best iv'e seen of a HB - you can see the wings - they are not a complete blur - good job ;)

What a fantastic photo! Gorgeous! Lucky you, hummingbirds never visit my yard that I am aware of so I haven't had the chance to even try to photograph one.
