Do I love her?
No
Am I in love with her?
Maybe
Do I want her?
Yes
I think about her, with her raven black hair and steel blue eyes.
Sometimes she comes to me in my home.
We talk. She tells a joke, I laugh.
I never tell her about my thoughts.

Wow...your poem sends chills up my spine. Such a very true slice of life and experience that so many people have had. Beautifully expressed. You are a multi-talented person. HUGSSSSS

Yes, I understand. Especially if that was a woman narrating; people are often shocked and disgusted when they hear that kind of thing. I've hand many gay friends, and many who professed to want me, but I play the sex game VERY carefully! :) Someday I may want to be president, and it wouldn't do to have to slap some donkey's tail for trying to make a big issue out of such things! :D Gender issues aside, this is a very poignant expression of grief; I've felt that way myself more than once. I talked a dear lady friend of mine through several relationships, always wishing I could tell her that I wanted to be the one, and I certainly wouldn't treat her that way... We're still friends, after about twenty years, and never lovers--dang it! :D
