Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

I am really impressed ! Your photographs are always splendid and liking the mountain I can only be dazzled by this landscape. But what is even more fantastic, it's the way you have to make us share your emotions ! I would be unable to make such an excursion in high mountain. But I understand well the physical suffering that one tests it to make... and also to want to go up still a little higher, of going to the maximum of our physical resistance. And then arrived at the top, after so many efforts, and to arrive in front of such a beautiful landscape ! Satisfaction to have made it, happiness to contemplate these tops, impression to be touched by the grace of God... It's really extraordinary ! It's not a simple photography of moutain, it's a part of your life and of your experience of hike. And be shure that seeing this shot, and reading your words... I can perfectly feel and share your emotion Jan-Carel ! You are a great personn !!!! Thank you for all that, and have a wonderful day my friend ! Hugs V

dunno why you say this is a bit of a crappy image 'cause it's NOT!!! you achieved excellent clarity, nice composition, and you nailed the whites, so congratulate yourself not only on making it to this point to see this wondrous view, but also for taking a fantastic foto!!! So this is the largest glacier in Europe, eh??? How wonderful for you that you were given the strength and resiliency you needed to get to this point to see such an incredible sight! The happiness you felt must have been dizzying!!! That's such an incredible feeling!!! You have so much to be thankful for that's for sure!!! Hiking in those altitudes can be SO physically exerting, and you were pushing your body to the limit. when i see this photo, i see it was all worthwhile! i'm sure you'll never forget this place or your feelings! excellent capture, Jan-Carel!

Of the images here you've posted on the Eggishorn so far this one i like the best, it's the cloud coming over that really sets up the depth for me. Excellent hike!
