Description

Dokka was slumped in his Contoller's chair. He repeated for the seemingly the ten-thousandth time, "518 or 399, please respond!" He got an occassional crack or pop on their frequency, but nothing intelligible. Controller 03 interupted his vigil. She updated him, "Controller 13? I just have a visual confirmation on the so-called "River King". I spotted him in sector 241, entering the mouth of the Talak River, heading upstream toward Taru City. Whatever creature your team encountered COULDN'T be the "River King". It was too small and in the wrong area. It might have been...off-spring! That's scarey. There isn't a female of his species! Let me know of any further developements!" Dokka was surprised. He nodded and responded, "Confirmed, Tela. I mean Controller 03! I'm monitoring the situation. Updates as soon as soon as I have them." He was surprised to see a Melon, or Scav-telepath, come onto the Controller deck. Dokka recognized the Melon as one he had nick-named 'Water' as in watermelon because of his coloration. Scav-telepaths were forbidden from wearing their 'witch-hats', unless they were on an assignment. The 'witch-hats' were their amplifiers to read anothers mind. Otherwise, the only minds they could read, were each others. Dokka smiled at him as he aproached. "Hey, Water. What's up?" The machine sounding voice echoed from the 'witch-hat'. The Melons were born without vocal-chords, so used the amplifiers to talk with. He looked sad and angry as the emotionless voice said, "Controller 09 has gotten permission from the crown prince, Salva, to organize a trip to the surface. I am to accompany him. I am to search for a multi-hued female discard that caught the prince's eye?" Controller 09 was too agressive and upwardly mobile for his own good. Ivor viewed himself as a man of action. He and Dokka had almost come to blows before over the Scavs and their treatment. He shouldn't be surprised by this underhanded machinization of Ivor's. He always looked out for himself, before the city, the prince OR the Scavs he merrily marched off to their deaths. Dokka grimaced and then was interupted again. The speakers squawked and 399's voice came out,"...gain? --ive--ecks--own. --ead me?" Dokka punched the gaine to maximum and said calmly, "We read you, 399! Please repeat your condition and situation." "--e have--ound--anchetta's--ost--ab! --rapped underground---ive levels dow--! We ---ve fou-- Panchetta's Lost --b!" The signal died unexpectedly. "399! 399! Repeat!" Dokka read the computer diagnostic. It read, "Signal lost at source due to power failure." Dokka's heart was pounding in his chest, as he punched in the code to inform Queen Beliza of the discovery of Doctor Panchetta's secret lab. She was VERY interested in finding it. Dokka stood up and said to Water-Melon, "We need to get down to Controller 09's little party and inform him of the latest developments. Where is he? "He is preparing to leave from hangar 21 with a fireteam of Scav Troopers and Collectors." "Lets go!" Dokka sprinted for the elevator bank, with the Melon named 'Water' in tow. Controller 03, Tela, saw them run past. She had to smile. She punched up the cameras on Hangar 21 on her veiwer. She wouldn't miss this for anything! Media is Poser 6
