Description

Tried to achieve the level of realism they have done with 3DMax and Brazil Render System - check out splutterfish.com. I work with mac so 3DMax is out of my reach but I think C4D is far behind when it comes to photorealism compared to Brazil or finalRender and 3DMax. Btw - just getting started with 3D but can someone tell me why the sharp corners get all blurry like they are in my image. I used the default radiosity settings except detail 80% and strength 150%. No lights - the tubes are just a material with 200% luminosity.

I think your are on the right track. I read an article on this recently. Try pulling back on your min max settings. Like 5min and 30 to 50 max. I would also suggest upping your accuracy setting to 80 or 90. Then be prepared to wait. One other thing. Make sure your walls have depth and are not just planes. Light has a tendency to leak out of planes.

The reason you have those errors at the corners are that you dont have enough max samples. The MIN samples are mostly for flatter areas, and the MAX smaples are for corners/edges. Try changing the values and do low res test renders, just do the pre-pass and you can see where the samples are distributed. If the corners still dont have enough samples try another setting. Read the radiosity section in the manual (or check out the tutorials). Both helpfull. Also, check your materials. Each now has an 'illumination' tab where you can specify it's global-illumination settings. As for XL7 not being able match Brazil, I dont see any reason why not. C4D's renderer has always been top-class, and since XL7 its got even better. Have fun.

Here are some good settings: Strenght:120 detail:70 Stochiastic:130 min:1 max:30 And just use a scyobjekt with 80 to 90 percent lumination... To reach a final u like play a bit with finetunings.
