Description

Yesterday I installed Google Earth (free downloadable at http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html) and I was stunned to be able to move around the Eggishorn as free as a bird. Some call that 'to fly' :) And when I think about flying free around I think of Sheila, who just like me loves to fly around as free as a bird. So here you go, this one I dedicate to you, Sheila! Zooming in on this glacial highay we can see Konkordiaplatz, the location where three distinct glaciers come together. The side moraines of the glaciers originating from the left and the right remain visible on the Grosse Aletschegletscher as the two dark trails in the middle of the glacier. An other fantastic view on the gletcher, this time you can see that the black-lines (morenen and coarse sand) are a result of the fact that two arm of the gletcher are comming together. Excellent capture of a unique area in the mountains. By-the-Way: Google Earth is a fantastic toy!!, I could find my house and even my terrace + little pond was visable!! (the area Leiden - Haarlem is in very greath detail .... Nevertheless things in real life and / or on brilliant photo's will be beter for ever. Have a nice day; Henk

awesome view! bright eye-hurting white snow and the clouds so very close! what a dimension, silence and loneliness since these mountains exists! and the glaciers are melting little by little and piece for piece! we cn call us happy to see it before it one day disapears! ;o)

Awwwww! THANK YOU, Jan-Carel, for such a STUNNING image!!!! it ranks up there as one of your best, IMHO!!!! compo is fantastic! what strikes me most about this is the rich colors and wonderful shadows! this has an almost painted feel to it! i love all the purple tones in the image, and those glaciers on the right with the purples and greens...so incredibly beautiful!! i'll have to check out that link to Google-Earth in a bit and see what that's all about! :) Anyway, this is definitely a wonderful place to fly!!!!! It's breathtaking!!!! Thank you, Jan-Carel!!!!!! :)
