This morning my world was white And I wanted to define it But off I had to rush away With no time for me to mind it I left the house to the sitter She minds the place for me Not much for her to do there Just keep it company While I head off to work Among the chaos of things Working just to pay my way In life without sufferings Then I come home to the only door That leads to my only home And there I find the sitter Standing in the room alone I didn't have to say a word As she opened her mouth wide Not because she was tired Or for me to look inside But out it all came The story of her day She was surely house sitting It wasn't just all play "You're home late!" she snarled "Have you brought me my food?" "I've had a rough day today" "Can't you tell by my mood?" "The meterman came knocking" "About two this afternoon" "But you never taught me to answer the door" "So I couldn't let him in the room" "I also checked the basement" "For stray birds and mice" "I checked all the closets too" "And I checked the bathroom twice" "There's dust bunnies under your bed" "If you noticed my tail" "I think you'd better get rid of them" "Or put this place up for sale" "Cuz it's either them or me" "Or get yourself another sitter" "Now get your coat and hat off" "And please get me my dinner!"
