Description
Breath, a life giving force.
Meant to feed a withering soul,
supporting a failing body.
A seemingly useless cause...
destined for one last breath.
Slowly inhaling precious air,
tranquility hidden amongst it.
Exhaling the body's cruelty,
shame, and inner turmoil.
Until that one last breath.
Sensations are to blame.
Persuasive in their very nature,
a mass chaos in dance,
tricking us into false hope.
But still, there's one last breath.
Caressing the very thought,
sweet never-ending rest.
This pause in time,
just for one moment...
holding for one last breath.
Understanding that chaos,
suffering the pain,
enduring the solitude,
experiencing the despair,
Now taste this one last breath.
Balancing on the threshold,
lullaby of waves awaiting.
Content in what is to come,
a sense of relief emerges.
You embrace your one last breath.
Needing the end, wanting.
Gradually releasing misery,
comforting a dying heart,
craving this fatal exhale.
Calmly, peacefully ceasing.

This poem struck me in a a way that I'm having a hard time describing. So, instead of passing on by without commenting, but thinking about your words even still.... I will say, this was moving and beautiful, and made me think. Thank you for sharing.

I find myself focusing on my breathing as I read this. Very sad to have only the last breath to enjoy out of life. Will definitely be reading this time and again.
