Description

I "Googled" that crap out of this bird, and wasn't able to find it's name...sorry. Seems to be some kind of finch, but there are so many varieties with subtle differences that it's almost impossible for me to tell it's true identity. ENYway....this is another bird that comes in packs of 3-5 at a time to my feeder. They are a little more timid than the "Java Finches" that come to eat and are easily intimidated by them. But, when the Java's aren't around they do eat their fair share. Update: Thanks to Akemi(Nongo) she was able to track this little birdie down for me. This is a Nutmeg Mannikin also known as, Ricebird or Spotted Munia. They are quite abundant in my area. Many Mahalo's Akemi, I should have checked the Hawaii site like you did...DOH!! Much Mahalo's for your kind comments on all of my bird pic's of late, I do appreciate you taking time to have a look and to comment if you see fit...They really do let me know I'm on the right track! A great week to All! Aloha!

Well Dave, that is what you get when you put out feed for them. Anything comes out to feed. Another beautiful capture. Love your bird shots. Aloha

Lovely shot! You have quite a superb series going thanks to your bird feeder. May it continue to provide more and more feed to the needy birds!! The DOF in this picture is amazing and such clarity too. V

What a cool looking birdie. Its called a Ricebird huh? I would have guessed its name to be something like "Frank the Finch" or some other mob-name like that. He sure does seem to have an attitude doesnt he? Incredible capture once again. Your DOF is remarkable in all these birdshots of yours. EXCELLENT!!! Have a great tuesday! ALOHA!!! #:O)

THis has such a natural feel, especially with the muted colors and moss on the branches. Just lovely, esp. the dof with the bird in perfect focus.
