Description
Some Gave All
I knew a man called him Sandy Kane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free
I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cries
As he said these words to me
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died America can't you see
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all!
Excerpt: Some Gave All
Artist:Billy Ray Cyrus
Tomorrow is Veteran's Day. At least for those of us old enough to remember, before it was changed for the convenience of 'public servants'.
I want you to think about something. Have you ever thanked a former serviceman, or woman for their service to this country?
We are so blessed, so fortunate in this country.
Review the last 100 years of history. How many countries were ravaged by war? How many cities laid in ruins, had to be rebuilt by valiant people? How many soldiers had to die to protect the boundaries of their own lands?
I look at the happenings of World War II and how the British were bombed repeatedly; yet they rebuilt. Look at all the dictators who tried to force their will on literally millions of people. Look at Israel, Korea, Vietnam, The Persian Gulf, not once, but twice!
Do you realize just how fortunate we are to be able to say that since the United States has been a country, we have not had our shores invaded, not had our cities laid waste, or the topography of our land changed?
Hundreds of thousands of young men and women, sacrificed at the least, part of their lives, if not giving up their life to protect what they believed in. They didn't make that choice for their government, but for their land and their people, for the privileges we enjoy today.
These freedoms came at a terrible price. Please, take the time, show the honor due to so many people who showed uncommon valor, who took the hard line and didn't back up, who weighed freedom against the balance of their own lives, and didn't count the cost too high!
Thank a veteran for his or her service to their country!
Thanks
Leanndra

Beautiful, beautiful creation. The purple satin heart is gorgeous. What a tribute and honor to those who have gone before us and fought diligently for our freedoms that we enjoy each and every day. And to those who are fighting still. Wonderful!!

Thank You. They used say to us, "Stand tall, your uncommon vallor IS a common virtue, in a thankless tasking." I'm not ashamed of my service or the fact like my vet buddy eryt, this hit me hard, got tears in the eyes-THANKS! ;-) V

An extraordinary beautiful tribute, Leann. Your thoughtfulness is exceptionally touching. Although most of us would have been proud to serve without a moment of recognition, it is heartwarming to know that there are those who are welling to stand up and say thank you. Thank you, Leann, from all of us.

very beautiful work Leanndra and dedication to the soldiers. I think we have been invaded and the gov let them in the door. 911 is the biggest example and before the WTC parking garage before that. our southern border is invaded everyday 24 hours per day by people trying to escape the poverty in their country but still taking jobs away from US citizens. Sorry about my ranting but when others are undermining our way of life on our own shores thanks to the baffoons in power, it makes me concerned

Oh my! I never expected a purple heart! This is truly a great dedication, Leanndra! Actually yes; I have personally thanked a handful. Just lost a friend in Iraq, 2 months ago and these PEACES of art are important for me. My brother served in the airforce, now a retired master sargeant. My grandfather and father also served. I was the brainiac of the family and spent my years studying instead.

Thanks for the reminder. I can recall when Veterans Day was alot more important to everyone than it is these days. Everyone I knew bought a little red poppy and even the children wore them. I treasured it, and kept it each year for a long time, until as children do, I would misplace it. It was always replaced the following year with another poppy and a visit to the cemetary to honor the fallen veterans we knew with little flags we put on their graves. How many deaths will it take til' they know, that too many people have died? The answer my friend is blown in the wind.
