Description

60cm x 90cm canvas materials: bedsheet, pieces of bark, leaves, sticks, twigs and other pieces of wood, human hairs mediums (in order of use): wood glue, strong glue, impasto gel, fine filler, acrylic white impasto paint This is actually a work-in-progress as I intend to add some degree of colour but haven't quite worked out what to do yet. Unlike my previous sculptural canvas, I don't think this one quite works just in white, but in a way I still like it so wanted to preserve it before I add colour! I'd also like to acknowledge the influence of my father who made a few very similar sculptural works over 20 years ago using Plaster of Paris - he never really settled in art, preferring artistic expression through bonsai training, but still managed to inspire me in the process. Thank you again for stopping by and for your valued feedback :-)

I agree with you I don't think this one quite pulls it off in white as well as the previous one. If you can succesfully add a touch of suble colour I think it will probably be brilliant. Very promising!!

It is remarkable how many textures and designs you can introduce in this. Very original. I like it.

I love the way the textures come through the canvas in this one adding a lot of depth & intrigue to the suggestion of form, great abstract composition already but I'm eager to see how it evolves with the use of some colour too, really cool work Jim keep them coming! ; )

Very cool Jim! (are you robbing Cassie of all her bedsheets?? :-) I like the white, makes the abstract form so beautiful, but it would be interresting to see you add some color too.

First there was nothing, then a bedsheet, then Jim came around ... I love your minimalism!

I'd love to try something on this scale, or bigger! I have my own ideas of how I'd finish this, but better not say anything just now :-) But even as is, it has the same sort of beauty as an iceberg...

I'm glad you preserved this as is. It is exceptional artwork right now. I look forward to the color version. I believe each version will have it's own mystique and each will convey something different. I really like the lighting and shadows that define and add drama to the shapes and curves.
