Description

Ran into this snake at the park down the road yesterday . She was wrapped around her caretaker- guy whose name was Bruce - Bruce informed me that he loved her very much and walks around with her everywhere, when hes not on his mailroute ( a mail man ) working. Her ( the pythons ) name is Ivy!... I took a few shots then she came closer at me to investegate and I shot what you see here.. I must say I was trying not to shake as I took this macro of her . Infact, almost peed my pants..LOL.. here she is up against his shorts... Bruce swore she was a good little girl and ONLY had bitten him badly just twice... that uh ,sorta relieved me. In a wierd scary kinda way I really felt lucky to get this close up of her. I never have had a fondness for snakes but must say I was facinated yesterday! ..Here I was intrigued by the holes in the front of her face I had never really noticed them on a snake before!! See those big holes in her face ? well, they are heat sensers.. still, a snake that can grow up to strangle a small baby is a bit mush to have for a pet in my mind... After this was shot Bruce informed me that she (Ivy) was worked up a little and so Bruce took her to the a sunny spot for some heat to calm down .They apparently calm down in the sun. I think Ivy was as afraid as I was...LOL~!! have a great night there...or day... hehe love ya all, big hugs!! ♥ !~ Kimmers! :O)

A totally fascinating up close and personal shot of 'Ivy'. She really is colorful and also quite scary. I agree with Georgy that it is the person behind the camera that gets the shot - your imagination shines in every photo. And your stories make it even more fun. V. :o) CC

I agree it is a fantastic shot, and as close as I want to be to any snake! :o) I admire your bravery, as I would have dropped my camera and ran for it.

Heat sensors huh...snakes leave me cold as ice! However, your shot slightly warms me up a bit thinking she might have been afraid of you too...I'm heading for the sun now to calm down...

Ivy is quite beautiful! Such pretty colors. My son and daughter raised snakes for a while. I really never developed a fondness for them, but a fascination?....sometimes. This is particularly nice. I like it on my monitor and not in my house. ;)
