I must have chosen Renaissance Man as a career option. I paint, draw, sculpt, write, and do photography.
Or put less charitably, "jack of all trades, master of none."

The joy of the creative life is there are no standards, no goals, no limits. Just do whatever you feel like doing to the fullest extent of your skills, facilities, faculties, and creativity.
Of course, it helps if everything is on hand, working, the Muse is making regular deliveries, and you're not tuckered or psyched out from your day job (or in my case, the overnight job).
I've been exhibiting at SF convention artshows since '76.
Starting in '86, I've been writing supplements for role playing games. You can find a list at http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?op=showcreator&creatorid=2327
The best known is THE ULTIMATE POWERS BOOK, a treatise on comic book superpowers. You can find it on EBay or download it from the web.Â
As for photography, I'm using a 1976 Minolta SLR, a pair of 1.3 Mp Sanyo digital cameras, and an 8 Mp Canon S5. My computer is a HP Pavilion 4550Z, vintage 1999.
And I have webbed toes.
So does Dan Ackroyd, Madeline Stowe, and one of the Dixie Chicks. Ackroyd and I share the same attitude, "The toes prove I'm a mutant."

Are you a sadistic bastard? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Perhaps a wee bit twisted, but nothing serious. Your bear doesn't look sad to me...more like, disgusted. Anyway...you did an excellent job on this one. What's really sad is I'm starting to enjoy your paintings as much as your nude photos. Now that's just sick and depraved!!! No, wait...deprived...yes, that's it! I'm sick and deprived!!!

This is sort of funny... I think he looks angry of someone for putting him there :) Excellent picture either way!

If you're a sadistic bastard for painting this, I must be a sick freak for liking it. Or something like that. I don't really know if he looks sad, upset or mad for his predicament, but he must be lonely, with only the picture of his owner/friend to keep him company.

Yes its sad, but it isnt sadistic. I like its melancholic touch.

It all depends on how you look at it! It could have survived from a battle or space pirates attack. Or maybe a family in a rush to the airlock and the child left it behind and got jetted out into space as the pressure went (which caused the cracked helmet). I personally love it because it makes you wonder what happened!

Interesting discussion. I'll let you in on soemthing. This is the fourth version of the painting and the one closest to the original, the one that really did look incredibly sad. If I can find the negative, I'll upload it. --- The original had some wreckage on the background, twisted girders and panels floating amid the silent stars. --- The little girl in the photo is based on my younger sister, circa age 2.

Wonderful.
