Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

In my part of the world (North East Texas), we have a plant called the "common Mullein, a very old and usefull plant used (by Roman soldiers, American Indians and early colonists to name a few) for a wide variety of purposes". It puts out a flower stalk very similar to this. It dries nicely and lasts a long time. The leaves are large and very soft. I wonder if this plant is kin to it? Thanks for the different view of this odd plant.

Remarkable plants abounding with flowers all over! Incredible species you find there, Errol, I am afraid a visit to Hawaii would be overwhelming with all the endemics! Terrific capture, great to see it compared with the still blooming one! :)
