Description

Friday night we had an hour to drive out to Hoover Dam from Vegas 11 miles from my Moms winter home. IT was around 430-ish when we left. But by the time we got there I realized we had missed the sunset and it was almost dark, I was dissapointed thinking I totally had missed it. The dam is so huge and one of the greatest engineering works in history. There was about 5 minutes left of any kind of decent light and we were in a traffic jam on the bridge over the dam. I asked Mike to let me out of the car from the street as the parking was on top of the hill and ran over and got two shots only then Mike says hop in the car we have to go-lol. He was hungry for dinner .I did manage to get a few upper night shots of the Dam. As we were driving away -0h I wished I had got the Dam itself in good lighting. Dam-it. When you are with family you take what you can get with kids and family schedules... (mommmmm I have to go to the bathroom type

I think you have timed it perfectly. He see the night approaching and yet there is still enough detail and information to make this a very interesting photograph. It has been decades since I have been there. It was a child when the dam first opened. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

oh, Kimmers, THANK YOU!!!!!! I LOVE it!!!! Those canyons in the background are just FABULOUS!!! such nice detail, and i love the lighting on them!! and the sky & reflections are incredible! timing is right on!! this is a place i would love to see in person! There's a dam in Vevay, Indiana (i forget the name) where i used to hang out many, many moons ago. i used to just sit on the banks of the Ohio River and watch, just fascinated. Anyway, thanks so much for this beautiful gift to me, kimmers, and for all the sweet things you said!!! You're one of the sweetest people i know!!! and honey don't you dare apologize for giving me this! it's fantastically creative and i love it!!! into favs!!

Kimarie, I live nearby, but haven't been to the dam in years. This shot is spectacular. This would make a marvelous postcard for sale to tourists. The twilight reflections and the light from the towers is magical. You succeeded in another great capture on the fly, even with the manipulation of 2 shots. Excellent V

this reminds me of the silly joke about going to the dam for some dam water. but the dam man said I could not have any dam water, so I told him he could keep his dam water!!I think this is the first night shot of Hoover I have seen and you done an excellent capture
