Description

Hello all! THis shot was taken in Red Rock canyon /.valley of the fire.. it has these beautiful red rocks there that seem to jump out at you in the sunlight... very deserty and beautiful about 10 miles from Las Veges. We were driving and I saw this view and said STOP... Mike and Chrissy went down the hiking trail. Me, I ran across the road in the opposite direction on a trailess path of stickery plants and then climbed up into this tree to shoot what you see here... LOL Mike and Chrissy just kept walking thinkin I had dissapeared -They didn't know I was on the other side of the road. This was a tricky shot because there was cactus below me and if i would have fallern OUCH.. LOL , I was aiming for a birds eye view from the tree ..!!! I believe this is a juniper tree but I could be wrong let me know if you know different, k? Have a good day or night there whatever it may be.. Thanks for all your wonderful comments on my towers from hoover dam!! luv ya all-~!! big hugs, ♥ , Kimmers

Yep, that's a juniper. I live in this area (southern utah actually). The locals sometimes call these cedars because the wood is very similar. It also smells very nice in the fireplace. Beautiful capture!

Red rock canyon and Valley of Fire is two different places. Red Rock is on the west side of Vegas about 11 miles and Valley of Fire is at the northwest corner of Lake Mead northeast of Vegas about 25 miles. If you missed Valley of Fire then you missed the best one. excellent capture and I appreciate you climbing the tree to bring us the glorious view

WOW....it is amazing how much that looks like New Mexico. I always thought that Nevada looked different. Of course the only places in Nevada that I have been are the airport in Las Vegas, and Reno, so what do I know. lol. Do you live in Vegas ? Yah gotta watch out for those cactus...they jump out and grab you. At least that is what I tell my husband. lol. Excellent shot !!!!

Oh Kimmie Kimmie Kimmie! This is just gorgeous! This photo right here is absolutely beautiful. I agree with Digimon, had it not been for those red hills i would too think it was middle earth. Beautiful KImmers. A juniper would be right.I excpect to see John Wayne riding off into the distance on this. LOL Glad you didn't fall.I guess we would have seen some really different shots then. But sometimes you just have to go to extreme to get the good shots.
