Description

I feel that this series will come to an end now, and here I show you the man Olof, who was kind to let me use his website material. www.oloft.com. As I said before, he has a section of it translated to English, about the reindeer year, how the herds wanders, and such things, but the other material (and it is a lot) is in Swedish. Here I combined two photos, one of Olof, and one of his beloved dog Uller standing beside him, and the dog's relatives. You can see the beautiful Sami dress Olof wears. The dresses are very colourful, blue is the dominant colour, combined with red and yellow mostly. The dresses vary a lot, special for every family or tribe. The old photos of the Sami children I showed you were in B&W, so the colours did not show there. I want to honour Olof with this image, both for his kindness to me, but mostly for what he does for the Sami people. He is very active politically, member of a parliamentary group, who handles all conflicts between the Samis and the landowners who go against the Sami's right to follow the herds on their lands since centuries. He writes articles in papers, participates in demonstrations for his peoples rights. Once they built a "k

Olof and you too Gun, are people after my own heart. I am so encouraged that there are still people interested in working to show and work for the preservation native cultures dignity and rights. Gun, you have done an excellent job of that with your series on the Sami people. I am amazed at how similar they are to Native Americans in both culture and the problems they face from outside the culture. Thank you for this wonderful exhibition. Please, maybe you could wander back every so often and share some of the other things you have, bit by bit. This is a wonderful painting of Olof and his Uller. V

I agree very much with what Suzanne AKA;claridad has written. I also wish to add that I find this artist rendering of yours looks very much like a painting in oil and not like a photograph trying to be a painting. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend.

Your series has been very meaningful, informative... and visually beautiful. I feel that I have been enlightened. This portrait of Olof and his dog is magnificent. I can feel the frosty air, and see the kindness in his face. You are a real artist. You not only have skill and imagination, but you have soul.
