WARNING!
FUEL SPRAY MAY CAUSE INJURY
behavior="alternate">
"Everyone needs a warm personal enemy or two to keep them free from rust in the movable parts of their mind."
--Gene Fowler

Let's end the work week with some colorful rust for all you old codgers out there. You know who you are! The photograph is of the top of a fuel tank of an old railway device, long fallen into disrepair and forgotten. Thankfully, I heeded the warning and not a drop of fuel sprayed on me. Not that there was any left at this point, but I was careful nonetheless. ----- Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by, and for your thoughtful comments on my last photo, This Bird Has Flown - 25 Years Later.

My father grew up on a farm, I spent many a memorable Summer there....as everyone knows, farmers tend to leave their old vehicles in the field to rust. This reminds me of the many adventures we had, pretending old trucks were fighter-bombers, etc...wonderful textures, and memories!

  • I remember Art. I tried to encourage him to stay at RERO when people didn't seem interested in his work. I thought it was wonderful. I hope he would like it. :) *

A comoposition of simplicity and grace. I think it was Harry Callahan who loved to abstract found textures and the first group of images like this i'd encountered, this certainly is the equal; very fine work here.

Mmmmm, as you know I am gaga for textures and there are certainly some wonderful parts here. Especially in the lower left area. The one thing that irritates me is the newness of the lid since it is so shinny. Then there is the shadow that is to strong since it is photographed in bright light. This is were fill flash would have been very successful in dealing with the strong shadows. On the bright side, I really do enjoy the lower left and if the opportunity arises, you should reconsider closing in and showing only a partial circle so everything becomes more abstract and not quickly known to the viewer. I hope that answer your question to me Kort. Have a nice weekend and thank you for sharing.

Gorgeous closeup of this part, kinda abstract! You took care so no fuel on your clothes or skin! It looks old indeed! Fantastic work, Kort! :)

I must have RUST! Something about this is really STRIKING...love how the colors inter-twine! If you turned it 90 degree clockwise, it appears to make a face to me!

Rust does not come more colourful than this. It took me sometime to figure it out though. Then I squinted and took the whole picture in one go and the varying textures and colours looked marvellous! Have a super weekend.
