Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

Hehehe.. I had a hard time finding your red clothed man. I thought of something bigger...!! But now I found him, I must say this makes the picture a lot more impressive. How great is nature and how tiny are we.. what makes us think we could rule nature ? It is clear to mea that you've captured proof we can't. Very impressive picture.

I, too had to search hard gor the red-jacketed figure. It looks like he's daring the Ice. H'mm, and still that boulder hangs. H'mm -- Dick

Wow!!!!! I never imagine that this glacier is that big but with the man (red dot) in position, this glacier is Huuuge! It sure isn't a safe place to be at the lower end of the glacier with rocks and boulders over head. Excellent series. Aloha

love the textures and the great flat grays' wonderfully executed and seen, but mainly love the scale.........looks roudn for rock boots, sunglasses t-shirt, chalk.............hmmmm almost makes me want to solo it.
Punaguy
Holy crap! The sense of scale the man gives is incredible...I had to search a bit to find him, and when I did it all came together for me...What a shot! Aloha!

wow! didn't expect such a dimension! the guy there gives a stunning sense of the incredible dimension! good you captured him to! breathtaking impression, Jan! ;o)

The detail is great. The glacier looks so much like a rock wall. How little we are in comparison to nature's wonder, and I hope the red guy was very experienced with glaciers. The only other choice is "dumb tourist."
kenwas
The scaling is amazing and well worth the people being there! Excellent!

Love the natural abstract in this ice castle...I saw that red dot in the shape of a human form and stuck my nose up closer to the monitor to check it out! Sure enough, then I went looking for other people, maybe a rock or two resemble people...surely he is not down there by himself!?

An awesome sight of a massive glacier! Interesting geological strata!

It's a tiny, red dare-devil, I suppose, because the mighty glacier might crumble down at any moment. It's living at the edge.
