Description

That boulder on the edge fascinates me. How long would it take before it will fall down? I have no clue, but the melting ice undermines it gradually. In the meantime it seems to me wise not to approach this side of the glacier. If there would be in life anything to have a crush on me it'd better be a nice girl than this cold relentless rock! :) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 200 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

The folding in the glacier is fascinating. Are glaciers tectonic in the valleys?

Very impressive view of the glacier's skin. Lots of thing crosses my mind on how this was formed. Looks like that boulder would fall any second now. Excellent. Aloha

Fascinating picture, my friend. May I remind you that there is a time for everything: boulders as well as women that might crush you. Anyway, have a nice day!

"How long would it take before it will fall down? " In my experience, all you have to do is turn your back for two seconds, and it is gone. Thanks for the ice front close-up, Jan Carel. -- Dick

Mom Nature is beautiful and scary. Too bad she didn't let go of the boulder for your lens. Great captures in the "glacier" pictures.

Really fantastic this shot Jan-Carel ! I love all the details of this glacier and the rocks. All the succession of the time, one color for each one, and all the story of this region in it. Great ! V

I would be afraid of Murphy's law-if anything could go wrong it would while I was there. I respect boulders and keep my distance. recently somewhere in the US several large boulders fell onto the interstate crushing a car. luckily for the lady, she was able to get out. I seen in the Philippines a car flatten by boulders that killed 7 students. they left the car along the highway as a reminder I suppose

I agree with yesitis3, Murphy is definetly my god!! I have had large rocks come down in front of my motorcycle before, and I barley missed them!! This is so beautiful, Something you don't see every day that's for sure! 8-)

Yeah, with my luck it would decide to fall just as I'm there under it. ;o) You are wise to keep your distance, and this is an outstanding image. Excellent!
