Description

Looking to the other side we see the world of glaciers with the Langgletscher in the valley, fed by connected and disjointed glaciers in a world where temperatures even in summer can be freezing. The little dot on the mountain ridge starting left from the ice-pass (the saddle) is the Hollandiahütte at an elevation of 3235 m (10614 ft). This hut can only be reached by a hike over the glacier. Although I would love to do that once (in a group tied by ropes), it's not done to do that right now, it's entirely unresponsible to cross glaciers without a guide, unless you're an expert (and even then it's dangerous). Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 35 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Most excellent photo. I also agree that the explanation made the photo even more interesting, seeing as we get an idea to just how big and how treacherous the glacier really is. Thanks again for the most amazing photos. - Disillusiondlife

What a spectacular view of this ominous glacier! You are wise to heed the safety precautions and stay off the glacier. Looks very perilous from here...Excellent view, thanks for sharing! Aloha!
