Description

Close to the Anenhütte at 2355 m (7726 ft) we find this rock, apparently smoothed by the glacier in colder times. You can see the direction of the tracks, parallel to the valley. The clouds seem gradually to get more connected so we need to notice the developments up there now and then. It took us some efforts but we reached our goal, the hut! Order yourself a nice drink or something to eat, while we walk a bit around the hut, looking where the rest of that glacier might be. I remember the nice pause we had at the hut, still in bright sunshine. I'm looking forward to your next shot! Have a good day, J.C.!

Definitely has that "scoured" look of the Canadien Shield and the area around the Great lakes with talus from the Ice Age. (No real mountains here though.)

I think that I would've cut the horizon line exactly above those backround peaks - sometimes there's no need for the sky; or course, this is just my taste. otherwise, an enchanting landscape like many wonderful images from your gallery! have a nice weekend, Jan-Carel!

Nice example of glacial scour. The more ragged broken rock in the lower left near the tarn is possibly the result of "pluck" where the ice pulls from the downslope side after going over a resistant bump (the scoured).

The atmospheric perspective in this shot is so extreme and the tracks on the smoothed boulder lead the eye into the composition so perfectly.
