Description

"There is no true expertise in the humanities without knowing all of the humanities. Art is a vast, ancient interconnected web-work, a fabricated tradition. Over-concentration on any one point is a distortion." --Camille Paglia

I asked if anyone wanted to see a detail of the peeling paint and rusty metal of yesterday's image and I got a few positive responses, so I posted 2 details in the Forum HERE. Today we have a different view of the object from the recent "Rust Bumps" images. Mark (hotracer2) correctly guessed that object was from my older gallery image Steamer. A thousand points to you Mark! ;] Now that you know what what it is, I hope you can still appreciate the images in an abstract way. ----- Thank you for your peeling comments on my upload yesterday, Number 900.

As you know Kort, I am a lover of textures and this one has me very interested. However, i feel it would have benifited from a low flash fill setting to bring out more of the detail and rich textures. Never the less, I like the new direction you are taking. Thank you for sharing.

Grapho and Glypho were plowing a rice patty together in Japan. Grapho wanted to know the dual for war. Glypho laughed and said"You Crassicar Schorals all arike!" Ah a bit rustyWas ist IE for electric eel? Or is that putting the cart before the horse, hehe.

I am going to out on a limb - exceptionally, I do not think I agree with Egmont (although I see what he means) - I like the contrast created by the shadow

  • thanks Charles. I agree with your assesment that it needed that extra contrast to work. I played with the midrange settings a bit and making them lighter caused it to lose some visual impact. *

I love the composition, and the focus on the shapes/forms. Wish it weren't in the shadow (Don't you have a control Sun dial?) The quote is one of the most fascinating I have read in a while! Keep'm coming Kort!!

Without flash though able by computer technology to show at least some more details, you did well, Kort! Gorgeous work, (greyish) black with joyful rust-colors! :)

I would love to use the term "gorgeous" here...but to be honest...theres nothing gorgeous about rust and old paint is there? I do however find it to look rather COOOOOOL and fascinating!!!! And i think your capture is absolutely flawless. Excellent light and detail. MTFG was his nickname wasnt it? Or something like that at least. Hed be mighty proud of you for this one!!! GO MAS GO!!!!!
