Description

Yesterday, I went for a short hike in the arroyo that's located right behind my house. I came across this interesting looking plant. At the base of the plant I found some baseball size fruit. If anyone knows anything about this plant, I would greatly appreciate your knowledge. Thanks for viewing and comments. ENJOY TODAY

hmmmm...rule of thumb...taste the fruit...if you live, it isn't poisonous. If the plant were in Connecticut right now, it'd be covered with snow!

It even laid an egg. LOL. Then again...it doesnt come as a surprise that i dont know the name...i am bothanically challenged after all. They do look indeed like a plant called the common mullein. They are a very old species and have been used for a variety of purposes since at least roman times. Native americans used them for a lot of different applications also. I think they are pretty common everywhere. The only trouble is , I have never seen one with "balls" so i am not sure, lol.

Ah, Jeroen found it yet! Verbascum is clearly the genus that popped up a few weeks ago in uh... Errol's gallery as well. Many species and great to see it's worldwide spread! Gorgeous collage with many details! :)

A very strange and beautiful medicinal plant ! Never seen it before even if there are a lot of them everywhere in Europe too. The fruit is incredible, remind me some of the one I've seen in Thailand ! Superb collage Ray ! Hugs
