Description

Not the sort of scene I would usually do, but a good way to start modeling. Found the lighting the hardest though. If you have any suggestions on improved lighting or anything, that would be good:))

This is really good, especially since your just starting out, good job. Lighting is really difficult to master...it just takes practice to find out what looks the best...never use an ambient light. It washes out your bump maps...As for your picture, your wood color is really cool, I like it.. I think you should change the wallpaper though, find a good texture instead of a procedural....the rest looks great :) Jason

It wasn't really supposed to look like wall paper. I know it looks a little weird but I just thought it looked different so kept with it. I was gonna do more with the pic, but it don't take too long before a room gets too boring.

I find it odd the the table leg closest to the camera is catching light facing the camera, while the fruit bowl, wine glass, and lamp aren't casting second slight shadows in the opposite direction. Keep in mind though, that my modelling career ain't that far along. Mainly I speak from a photographers view. I must say, aside from the light qualm, that this scene looks damn kewl man, and I'd be hard pressed to do anything near its quality.

I know what you mean, it does look a little out of place. But I couldn't figure out what it was. There are lights all round the room which is where the light on the leg comes from. That must be the hardest thing to do light. Thanks for the note!

I love the texture of the walls, (but what do I know, I live in an earth-sheltered-hobbit house). You've added a lot of little touches that I really like as well; the small up-lights on the wall, the photograph on the table, etc. I understand what Slynky says about the lighting from a photographers point of view, however the lighting on the table does not bother me, as I know how wonky real lighting can be in a small room when you have multiple lighting sources. Also, like the moon peeking in. Great image!

I think this is a great image.. I think for me the reason the wall makes sense is because of it's color. Earth tones seem to do well with me. I love the stony look. Of course I have yet to master lighting or texturing but the ONLY thing in this scene that I woudl love to see is the caustics from the Wine bottle, that would blow my mind. for a lighting test I would say it is a hell of alot better than I can do. Although I think a little healthy Competition is good. ;) Great work.

fantastic job on the apples, glasses and especially the wall sconces. I like the view out the window as well. I don't know that I agree with the texture on the wall, perhaps an old italian stucco would be more my taste ... but then again, it's not my picture! great
