I truly do believe that you have said everything in all us Americans hearts, but most of us are too "copy-cat like" to admit that. IF they were to ever loose their freedom in the way those did on 9/11, they would rally ALWAYS. We fly a flag on our home,our cars. Our families were the old generations of fighters. WWII and the Civil War. Since then, our family values have changed and our men are home with us. But they WILL fight-if had to. We are proud to be American. And ALL Americans should be. This line you wrote got to me the most: "Cant we find more appropriate things to do with the gross national income?" In my opinion with the Billions! it cost for war each American could have been given close to a million dollars! Think how that could have boost our economy and helped the needed here. I can't agree with you more. Excellent written essay, and very well presented truth. When the aggessors invade a country and then call it liberation, and defenders defend their country against invasion and they are called terrorists, it makes me wonder what would happen if the tables were turned and our country was attacked due to those who hate us and our government and believe they should change it, and get rid of our president and arrest him. How many people have died and are still dying in Iraq not only the native people but our sons and daughters. This war is as senseless as the one in Vietnam, and we couldnt' win that one either. Kuwait invited our help to rid it of Sadam, Iraq did not. The people there should have gotten rid of their own oppressors. We should not be the police of the world.

boy is that truth, i agree and i feel that we all will arrive at a time when we can no longer stand in duality of conflict by watching death and destruction (via hollywood style) and call it entertainment, then change the channel and call it real horror, then flip back to that movie as if it were nothing. what will it take to halt the insanities. i know that most people are spiritually asleep to the soul stealing going on. are we americans the 21th century roman empire, our leaders march in the name of the constitution, and they write and rewrite laws but can't even get the first orginial 10 (thou shalt nots) right. enough said my friend, i'm on the same page as you about this
