Description

Another fast astronomical painting, this one in acrylics with a lot of Photoshop (this version actually looks better than the painting;-) The stars are a close-up of a winter constellation we can see here in the Northern Hemisphere, the Pleiades. The Pleiades are a very young star group, only a fraction of the age of our own sun, so the planet shown must orbit an older star near the Pleiades. Really it was just fun to paint a cheesy ocean scene;-)) Thank you for your comments!(I really appreciate them--they keep me working!) Gypsyangel wanted a desktop so you can download a zip file of just the ocean part here (the whole image is too tall): "Ocean desktop"

It is stunning, I love the blue... Stars and an ocean, how could it be better?

I wouldn't call it cheesy either...I think its exceptional. It has a painterly feel and an illustrative style but it is excellent work!! The Pleiades are real and therefore I think this belongs in the space art and not the sci-fi genre :) Very cool!!

My favourite Pleiade name is Merope... though Electra doesn't sound too bad either... :D A beautiful scene, Lynn - not cheesy thanks to the shore/sky ratio and the blue-blue light... :D Superb painting.

Stars and ocean - a perfect combination of subjects in my view! And how can you call that "cheesy" - I wish I could paint a shoreline and waves half as good as this! Excellent and beautiful work and a big vote!!

I don't know how I ever missed viewing this one! I feel myself there, on that shore, in silent open-eyed meditation marvelling at the wonders only the sea possesses. The sky is wonderful but personally, water interests me more. BRAVA

I don't know why I'm drawn so much to all the 2D work, maybe I just appreciate the painting part vs the 3D? Anyway... I couldn't not comment here, the colors are so beautiful, you can feel the cool & hear the waves... incredible work! ^^
