Description

Zooming in on this glacier gives me the idea it's worth the effort to take a closer look when we do return from the hut. Compared with yesterday's posting this one has a different exposure time due to the light reflected by the snow. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 200 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Happy New Year!!!

The end of the year is an appropriate moment to look back on 2005. On Christmas eve it was about losing friends, but now I want to look back to ... YOU! You've given great input, about technical stuff, aesthetics, but you've showed also enormous involvement in my mountain hikes. I never hike on my own anymore - you're always with me seeing the things I see through my viewfinder. And... it is great to visit all your wonderful galleries, offering opportunities to explore this world comfortably behind the computer.

The price of this all is, however, a bit too high to continue exactly in the same way. Due to the time-consumption I need to cut a little bit (I said last year exactly the same LOL). So I decided to visit a little less galleries :( But... I will remain as actively involved as I can.

How to thank you all for all the wise and kind comments and rankings, the votes, the favorites, the IM's, and your own postings? Well, I thought, let's try something original that's not available on RR (could be a nice add-on, however). So I collected data over 2005 (12-31 10.30 GMT) and I constructed my own Hot 20!!! But be aware, it does tell nothing about the quality from the comments! :)

WOW!! Holy Cow that just gave me a feeling of how big this glacier really is. They never really do that on TV programs, you know?! You're never given the impression of 'really' being there. You did that Jan-Carel. When I saw this, I actually got excited and was very animated over it. I had to show my daughter this and explain to her where 'we' were. Great job my friend. What an adventure you've taken us on so far. Happy New Year to you!!!

You sure do have a way with capturing mountains. It's great for the rest of us who can't make it there ourselves. Looking forward to more in 2006.

It looks a bit slippery so we need crampons and an ice axe. I am pleased to ride the number six slot on the belaying rope. To the summit, Halooooo!!

Cool, literally and rhetorically speaking. The photo is wonderful, though looks to be taken on a chilly day, and it's cool that you've created your own Top 20 bar graph. I hope to make your 2006 Top 20, so I better get to shooting more works. Happy New Year to you Jan! I hope it's your best year EVER!

Wow look at the deep blue ice where the glacier is crumbling! Seeing this up close capture reminds me of the blue Alpine rock I sent you a photo of, only much.... much... larger. Happy New Year, hope to be in your top 20 of 2006...got off to a late start this year. :-)
