Description

The water causes ripples like you're used to see them on the beach, but the mud is slightly different from white sand on the beach and the streaming water is more constant compared with the waves on the sea. The average distance between two ripples (in the middle of the picture) is about 15 cm (6 inch). I did not touch the water, but since it's originating from the glacier I guess its temperature will be close to freezing temperatures. It's time to leave this place. That hut will certainly offer a nice vista on the glacier, but first a nice hike to reach that place! :) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 150 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Such a great pattern in the mud. This is the kind of deposit that makes interesting rock when it's exposed millions of years later. It's also interesing to see how milky the water is. Even at such shallow depth I can see the glacial flour.

Awsome patterns in the chilly river mud. This hike is taking you through some wonderful landscape...earthly and alien alike! Can't wait to finally see the hut up close! ;] Happy 2006 Jan-Carel!

I would think the mud could swallow a person up unless the ground temperature is very low. the water is so beautiful

IMO, this image is by far superior technically than your previous image, Jan-Carel! I like the way you composed this to focus just on the water and ripples. On the other hand, the other image shows the whole scene in context...shows much more of the area and that's nice too. i really like seeing a close up like this! it's almost hypnotic if you look at it long enough. something about these ripples are so soothing. i can't believe the temperature of the water is that cold. brrrrrrr! excellent shooting! i really love this! :)
