Description

The Athabasca glacier is part of a giant ice field in the Canadian Rockies that supplies water to the Arcitc Ocean, Hudson Bay, the Pacific, Atlantic, and the Gulf of Mexico. On the left side of the photo, a little above center, in the lighter area, there is a dark spot. I'll show you what it is in my next upload, so you'll have some idea of the size of this thing. Oh wow, an impressive vista on this place that can be reached so easy with the car! Pity it's a bit blurred but it looks fabulous here! :)

Doesn't look blurred to me. I was just thinking how cold it must be on that ice. Brrrrr!

Another interesting fact about the Columbia Icefield...it is so large, it actually creates its own weather...usually miserable though! And you are correct it is unique because it does supply water in different directions...as it sits on the continental divide.
