Richard, A rather stark image in B&W, which I am guessing was your intent. It saddens me so much to see man encroach more and more into the wilderness areas. People get bitten, mauled, etc by wild animals, and end up getting hunted down and destroyed because of it. We know how territorial animals can be. Their nature is to protect what is theirs. Guess they lose cause they can't read the small print, huh? Yeah, Saz was right! Leann

Oh Richard... this so reminds me of my grandparents farm and the road between the house and the barn. It's so sad when we have to take the wild away from the animals and then moan about how they're getting into our territory even though we are the ones in theirs. Excellent image and the BW makes it all the more powerful. huge hugz :)

This is such a gorgeous photo, but it is such a pity that the natural habitat has to be torn away to make place for more people. I can only echo Leanndra, it is very sad.

When I left Wenatchee from visiting 12 years ago, there were apple orchards across the street, a large white house where I played as a child and lots of evergreens in thier yard..it now is a construction site, I am in the country but they are doing this to it too..Beautiful historical preservation shot Richard..so sad that it has to be this way, and now the animals that were there..gone, who knows where...thank you:-)

B&W is super in this photo - perfect title

That's just typical - "We are BIG, you are SMALL" attitude! - Sickens me no end to see nature being ripped up to provide new housing when so much of this world lies derelict as a result of mankinds destructive tendancies.

Development sucks! Where I grew up there were woods and swamps everywhere, now they are shopping malls and parking lots..Excellent capture, it will always be pristine in this picture.

The two legged critters are unstoppable! How unfortunate when woods like these have to make room for them! Great you recorded it's beauty anyway! :)

Wonderful black and white photo, Richard. The same thing is happening here. Rabbits come to my backyard and eat my lawn because they were forced to run away from their homes in other hills (I live on a hill also). Excellent photo !!!!!

What a shame one day we will have no countryside left. I hope the critters find a new home. Maybe they should move in with some of 4 legged ones :) Cathy xoxoxo

Excellent B&W Richard as all have said. Yet, as I sit here, peering into the end of another beautiful piece of nature thinking while also experiencing the sadness all who have posted do I cant help but also have the heartfelt feelings as thoughtsAs America grows in size with massive amounts of two legged critters coming from everywhere to take up a living here, it is only logical to know, so to, will come more housing development. Thus, this leaves me torn emotionally.
