Great broken glass! Broken glass is one of the last 3D frontiers to do effectively! That and realistic water are pains! Great job!

I see I am looking at work by a distinguished colleague. Sunlight is a fun place to find strong light. I spent one whole summer and winter studying the absorption of sunlight as heat by glass. Now today I was reading that light travels magnetically. (An article about the Magnet Center in Tallahassee.) I wonder how iron in green glass, cobalt in blue and nickel in brown substantiate this. Certainly silicon wafers have none of these impurities.

As a thought, have you done a take without the stones and the sand softened somewhat? Would be interesting to compare.

The glass and liquid are modelled beautifully and the lighting and caustics look very realistic. Super work!

It would be cool if the pieces looked like they would fit back together.

sailor ed, fyi, this is based on a real broken bottle I came across, and is, as close as I can get it, a pretty accurate representation. I would have thought it's pretty clear that the middle section of the bottle has been shattered leaving two uneven ends, it would be a rare event for a broken bottle to fit together neatly like jigsaw puzzle. Ever tried to fit a broken vase back together ?

LOL!!! I sincerely doubt anyone could put a bottle back together that they find on a road or path, that has been broken and sitting there for who knows how long. I think this is AWESOME. I love how the glass bends the light and shows the ground distorted underneath. The ants add a realistic touch to it. Excellent work!!!
