Description

Photographies made with my Nikon D70S and a Tamron lens 18-200 mm. Little postwork with Nik Color Effect Pro (filter "Classical Soft Focus") and framed with Photoshop 7 Hi my friends !!! I continue my serie of photographies made in Thailand. Some weeks ago I've show you some portraits of a lovely old woman, you remember ? It was these shots : "Old GrandMother 1" and "Old GrandMother 2" I've work for 2 days with this adorable little GrandMother, who teach us to make some baskets of Bambu (I said "us" because there where another young french woman with me, Katia). To make baskets is something I dreamed since so many years, and it was the first time I could try to make one. But we have made all with her, the first thing was to go in the forest to choose and cut with her son the right bambu. It seems easy... but it's not so easy when you must do all by yourself ;o))))) From a fresh bamboo, we cuts it into 8 or 10 pieces, in the length sense, with a machete, or a big knife. And then from each piece, and always with the long knive, we cut 6 ou 8 small strips that will be used for making the basket. I have photographied the little GrandMother, but after she show us how to do.... we have made our own materiel of course. It wasn't so easy but it was very funny to work together with her. She has an incredible ability to use her hands as well as her feet. Well on we used her technique, which is very practical ! I've made these 2 shots with an exposure of 1/40 sec and a diaphragm of 3.9 - ISO 200, to have the movement of her hands. And that's just the begining of our work !!!! Thank you for all your comments on my post of yesterday : "For Zulaan and Cygne..." If you want to see the photography of Trees post in GIANCARLO'S gallery today, just click here : "I Pioppi Emiliani" Have a wonderful evening my friends !!! And so many Hugs to you !!! Nathalie, and always close to me, Giancarlo

She certainly is very handy with the knife in the way she is holding it and cutting the bamboo. Glad to see your continuing the series from your trip. Thank you for sharing a page out of your life. Egmont
