Description

Photographies made with my Nikon D70S and a Tamron lens 18-200 mm. Little postwork with Nik Color Effect Pro (filter "Classical Soft Focus") and framed with Photoshop 7 I'm so happy you like the first shots of this serie ! Thank you for your comments of yesterday !!!! It's true that her hands are deformed, she suffers from osteoarthritis, and it's accentuated still more because she is thin. She is also very small this pretty granny, she is like a little goblin. An adorable goblin ! The cutting of the strips is the most delicate stage, each one must been divided, and you cannot imagine at what a speed she works ! The little Grand Mother makes baskets since a very very a long time. If Iunderstood well (she don't speak english or another language, just Thai...) she has made that for all her life. To give you an idea, to make a large basket it takes her at least 2 days whole of work, given that it's also necessary to make dry the strips. And after she sells her baskets 50 baths ! what makes approximately 2 euros.... We are so far from our European wages ! In term of speed, we need twice more time to make a small flat basket. But we put all our love at it !!!! I've make you a collage of 4 pics, on the first 3, you'll see Katia working, and following the instructions of our sweet teacher. And the last shot has been made by Helen, another friend who was with us in the forest for some days. Then you see me, cuting my strips of bamboo. Every one has his own technique ! But we have all worked with our hands and feet ! I've made these shots with an exposure of 1/60 sec and a diaphragm of 5.6 - ISO 200. You'll see the progression of our baskets next days... A wonderful collage and series of photos! It is so amazing to see how much work and time goes into these baskets. It's too bad that they don't earn more for all of that work. Beautiful shots...thank you so much! :-)
